Prisoners Building Patriot Missiles?

This spring, the United Arab Emirates is expected to close a deal for $7 billion dollars’ worth of American arms. Nearly half of the cash will be spent on Patriot missiles, which cost as much as $5.9 million apiece.

But what makes those eye-popping sums even more shocking is that some of the workers manufacturing parts for those Patriot missiles are prisoners, earning as little as 23 cents an hour. (Credit Justin Rohrlich with the catch.)

I wonder what is going to happen when these prisoners find out that the items they are manufacturing are being sold for millions of dollars to a foreign country in the Persian Gulf. After all if you were being paid 23 cents per hour how good of a job would you do?

The work is done by Unicor, previously known as Federal Prison Industries. It’s a government-owned corporation, established during the Depression, that employs about 20,000 inmates in 70 prisons to make everything from clothing to office furniture to solar panels to military electronics.

One of the company’s high-tech specialties: Patriot missile parts. “UNICOR/FPI supplies numerous electronic components and services for guided missiles, including the Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) missile,” Unicor’s website explains. “We assemble and distribute the Intermediate Frequency Processor (IFP) for the PAC-3s seeker. The IFP receives and filters radio-frequency signals that guide the missile toward its target.”

The missiles are then marketed worldwide — sometimes by Washington’s top officials. Last year, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates pitched the Patriots to the Turkish government last year, a diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks reveals: “SecDef stressed that ‘nothing can compete with the PAC-3 when it comes to capabilities.’”

Way to go Mr. Secretary, give all the other countries around the world one of our best defense systems so one day they may use them against our military, just like in Iran and Afghanistan and a host of other countries.

Patriot assemblers Raytheon and Lockheed Martin aren’t the only defense contractors relying on prison help. As Rohrlich notes, Unicor “inmates also make cable assemblies for the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F-15, the General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin F-16, Bell/Textron’s Cobra helicopter, as well as electro-optical equipment for the BAE Systems Bradley Fighting Vehicle’s laser rangefinder.”

Unicor used to make helmets for the military, as well. But that work was suspended when 44,000 helmets were recalled for shoddy quality.

See what did I tell you about a fair wage for a product.

Last year, Unicor grossed $772 million, according to its most recent financial report (.pdf). Traditionally, inmate salaries make up about five percent of that total.

Wow that is some profit for a company... I mean the Government.

Top 10 Public Employee Scandals

Great article from PushBackNow!

Most of our state and local public employees are undoubtedly upstanding citizens, yet the growing scope of government power leads some to do incredibly selfish things. Here are the Top 10 Public Employee Scandals:

1. Prince George’s County corruption: This Washington, D.C., suburb is a cesspool of corruption. County Executive Jack Johnson was recently indicted on conspiracy, extortion, and bribery charges relating to a pay-for-play scheme, taking money, trips, meals, drinks, hotel rooms, airline tickets, rounds of golf, mortgage payments, and campaign contributions from developers. Unrelated to Johnson’s scandal, Ulysses Currie—the state senator representing the Maryland county—was indicted last September for taking $245,000 in bribes. And Currie’s campaign treasurer Olivia Harris pled guilty to stealing $157,350 from Currie’s campaign account.

2. Bell , Calif. , salaries: The mayor and former city manager of Bell , Calif., along with six other city officials, were arrested last year and charged with illegally paying themselves huge salaries. Bell is a mostly Hispanic working-class town of 40,000 near Los Angeles, yet City Manager Robert Rizzo was receiving an $800,000 salary. Rizzo, booked on 53 counts of misappropriation of public funds, and the other officials were charged with taking $5.5 million from the city coffers.

3. Kickbacks for jailed kids: Former Pennsylvania juvenile court Judge Mark Ciavarella was found guilty of 12 counts of racketeering and conspiracy in February for sending youthful offenders to detention centers in exchange for $2 million in kickbacks from the builder of the for-profit facility. While the disgraced judge said the money was a “finder’s fee,” the state Supreme Court threw out thousands of juvenile convictions from Ciavarella’s court.

4. Washington, D.C., shopping spree: Harriette Walters, a tax assessments manager in Washington, D.C., was sentenced in 2009 to 78 months in prison for approving $48 million in false tax refunds, which she used to go on expensive shopping sprees and to lavish gifts on friends and family members. Walters, whose annual salary was $81,000, spent more $1.4 million at Neiman Marcus for jewelry, clothing, and designer handbags.

5. New York pension scandal: Former New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi pleaded guilty last year to corruption charges for accepting more than $1 million in expenses, fees, and donations from a California businessman in return for allowing the businessman to earn $18 million in fees for investing $250 million of the state’s pension fund. Despite his guilty plea, Hevesi is allowed to keep his own $105,000 annual pension.

None Dare Call it White Genocide

A very interesting article and certainly a worthwhile read for anyone open-minded enough to step back and consider the current realities of being White in America(and heaven forbid, proud of it! Being proud is a privilege reserved for use only by blacks, latinos, etc.).

While it is *culturally acceptable* to have our cities taken over by exclusive Muslim or Mexican communities who insist upon bringing their often violent and 3rd world standards of living with them; while it is okay for them to completely overtake and overrun once decent and safe communities - it is not okay for us to have communities that cultivate and elevate White culture, White-European societal norms or standards of living. If we dare to even try, we get sued, slandered and discredited by getting hit with the huge (and feared?) Scarlet Letter *R* for Racist from those who push a multicultural agenda inside White countries around the world.

And before you try to label ME as racist, ask yourself honestly if you want your family living next door to an inner city housing project overrun with 'minority' gang-banger thugs and crack dealers. Ask yourself honestly if you want to live next door to a monstrous mosque and be jolted awake by a foreigner's call to prayer at dawn every day and ask yourself if you want to live in an area where your AMERICAN child gets taunted or expelled for wearing or displaying Our American Flag at school? How do ANY of those things benefit American culture or society?

And why are we standing by silently and allowing everything our founding fathers fought for be desecrated and decimated by foreign invaders who openly and blatantly call for our destruction?

Excerpt From "Africa for Africans, Asia for Asians, White Countries for Everybody"
Posted By Horus

"...To deny White citizens of White nations the right to preserve themselves – biologically, ethnically, and culturally – is the true example of racism and hatred. Genocide is never acceptable. What can be more racist than the systematic eradication of an entire race? White Americans need not be ashamed of identifying on a racial basis, as every other race in America has a political license to do so. La Raza, the League of United Latino American Citizens, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the Anti-Defamation League of the B’nai B’rith are all bound by racial or ethnic ties.

White Americans are now approaching minority status in the nation their forefathers fought for and built from the ground up. If the current birthrates continue, White Americans will be a minority group in a few generations. White Americans must be free to object to the immigration policy of White genocide without being shouted down as “racists,” a term which has lost potency due to its use as a political tool to silence White advocacy. “Racist” is a thinly-veiled attempt to silence a person who wishes to protect his or her race from extinction – a person who opposes genocide. “Racist” is an empty slur meant to shut down debate, silence White people, and obfuscate the reality of White genocide....

...The United States employed an explicitly pro-White immigration policy for the entirety of its two centuries of existence until the treasonous 1965 Immigration Act, which reversed this safeguard and subverted American immigration policy to discriminate against White Europeans in favor of non-White immigration. Prior to the 1965 Act, American immigration policy favored White European immigration to maintain the status quo of the American population. The behind-the-scenes architects of the 1965 Act realized that overwhelmingly non-White legal immigration would inevitably reduce the White American population over time. The political front men of the 1965 Act, such as Ted Kennedy, falsely assured the American public that the new immigration policy would not upset the racial balance of America. In 1965, America was approximately 89 percent White. Just a few generations later, America is around 65 percent White. In one more generation, White Americans will be a minority in their own country...."

U.S. Targeted EU To Accept GM Foods

- Senior U.S. officials in Paris advised the George Bush administration to launch a military-style trade war against the European Union for resisting genetically modified foods, according to newly released WikiLeaks cables.

Well Monsanto I guess is putting their political contributions to good use. Being that Monsanto is only looking out for our best interests and not their bank account.

- The then U.S. ambassador to France, Craig Stapleton, asked the government to penalize the EU and particularly countries that banned the use of genetically modified (GM) crops.

-The move came in response to a 2007 French ban on a GM corn variety made by U.S.-based company Monsanto.

What, I can't believe this! A country having the right to say no something they do not want. How dare they stop this corporation from getting even richer and full of themselves.

-The Grocery Manufacturers Association estimates about 80 per cent of packaged foods sold in the U.S. and Canada contain GM food. Some animal studies have shown serious health risks, including infertility, accelerated aging, organ damage and birth defects, linked to such foods.

Hey maybe that is the reason why France does not want GM foods in their country. The do not want three armed kids or 20 year old citizens having to use walkers to get around. Hummm silly French people.

-Other newly released cables show U.S. diplomats around the world pushed GM crops as part of U.S. global food policy.

-For example, the U.S. applied pressure to the Pope's advisers to champion such crops to counter the opposition by many Catholic bishops in developing countries who were vehemently opposed to it.

Okay that does it...when the Catholic people are used to inspire developing countries to use GM crops the gloves come off. Now, if I was only able to get these gloves off with the two fingers I was born with.....

Jeffrey Smith, executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology notes how he’s been saying for years that the United States government is joined at the hip with Monsanto, pushing GMOs as part of Monsanto’s agenda on the rest of the world.

“This lays bare,” notes Smith, “the mechanics of that effort. We have Craig Stapleton, the former ambassador to France, specifically asking the U.S. government to retaliate and cause some harm throughout the European Union. And then, two years later, in 2009, we have a cable from the ambassador to Spain from the United States asking for intervention there, asking the government to help formulate a biotech strategy and support the government—members of the government in Spain that want to promote GMOs, as well. And here, they specifically indicate that they sat with the director of Monsanto for the region and got briefed by him about the politics of the region and created strategies with him to promote the GMO agenda.”

Because of a lawsuit, 44,000 secret internal FDA memos revealed that that policy was a lie. “Not only were the scientists at the FDA aware that GMOs were different, they had warned repeatedly that they might create allergies, toxins, new diseases and nutritional problems. But they were ignored, and their warnings were even denied, and the policy went forth allowing the deployment GMOs into the food supply with virtually no safety studies.”

Police and Gun Control

Another excellent article from WTS

Gun Control.

It's a complete and utter fallacy to say that removing guns from the populace makes the people of those communities safer.  It's a monumental misplacement of faith to think that a government or government body can protect you from your neighbors.  You have the right to protect yourself, your family, and your property in the United States of America with firearms, and such rights are granted to you via the founding fathers of this nation in the second amendment in the United States Bill of Rights.  The right to protect yourself and bare arms, however, is not a right that any governing body can give to you, it's a right that you have, whether you realize it or not, upon birth.

Gun Control isn't about Guns, it's About Control.

I never get tired of hearing people talk about how their ideas or their political party favorite, or whatever and whoever, are somehow going to change the world, and make it better. It's sort of like when someone blames Islam or Christianity or Judaism for the violence in the world. Religions don't commit acts of violence, violent people do. If you took away all of the religions in the world, you'd have the same violent people left, and they'd only find another reason to do what they were doing already. Of course I've over simplified things, but the previous sentence is still the water floating battleship reality.

Having more faith in government, or in individuals than you have in your own ability to control yourself well; is a sign of low self esteem, and I associate that with humanism. What is humanism? It's the religion that claims that it isn't one. It's the worship of mankind. If you've not reached the conclusion that mankind is a circle jerk fool's parade yet, then let me tell you a story. . .

Bankers Looting Nations Through World Bank/IMF

The World Bank/IMF is owned and controlled by NM Rothschild & Sons plus 30 to 40 of the wealthiest people in the world. For over 150 years they have planned to take over the planet through money. The former chief economist of the World Bank, Joe Stiglitz, was fired in 2000. He pointed out to top executives that every country the IMF/World Bank forced their way into ended up with a crashed economy, a destroyed government, and some even broke out in riots. Former President of the World Bank/IMF Sir James Wolfensohn, would not comment on his dismissal.

Before Joe Stiglitz was fired he took a large stack of secret documents out of the World Bank.

These secret documents from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund reveal that the IMF required nations:

1. To sign secret agreements containing 111 destructive items.

2. To agree to sell off their key assets – water, electric, gas, etc.

3. To agree to take economic steps which are devastating to the nations involved.

If they do not agree to these steps they are cut-off from all international Import/Export. If you can’t borrow money in the international marketplace, no one can survive, whether you are people, corporations or countries. If that doesn’t work they overthrow the government and rewrite history.

The United States of McAmerica

My last article covered a few of the “acts” that ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council; a special interest conservative right leaning organization) has helped our legislators to write and implement across the country. What I outlined previously were merely a few examples of their good works put out by their Criminal Justice/Homeland Security task forces. While I focus on ALEC in much of my writing, please keep in mind that ALEC is but one of a hundred or so groups who work behind the scenes in D.C. to buy off our politicians and force policies that meet their own political and profit driven agendas. I tend to single out ALEC only because they are one of the most prominent groups and there are numerous connections between ALEC, private prison corporations, declining education and our ever tightening and restrictive ‘tough on crime’ laws…but I cannot emphasize enough that they are just one of the players and takers of the big profit pie that our lawmakers gorge themselves on.

For this article, I am going to highlight some of the ways ALEC (and other outside influences) has helped our educational system along. Since there seems to be a direct connection between education and incarceration, this is an important piece of how politicians and CEOs are legislating profits for prison industry. Let’s face it, very few ‘hardened criminals’ have college degrees and if our government wanted high achievements from our schools, we’d damn well have high achieving schools, don’t you think?

From ALEC’s webpage on their education task force:

Each year, the Task Force releases an annual Report Card on American Education. One of ALEC's flagship publications, the Report Card takes a comprehensive look at the state of public education all across our country. Based on a variety of indicators, the Report Card consistently shows no direct correlation between conventional measures of education inputs, such as expenditures per pupil and teacher salaries, and educational outputs, such as average scores on standardized tests.

As always, the Task Force will continue to focus on those policies that hold teachers accountable for the education they are providing as well as developing new ideas on how businesses can become partners in educating the next generations of our children.
We’ve already seen the wonders of bringing businesses into our prisons, now they want to do the same to our schools? Pardon me if I don’t jump up and down in excitement over this idea.

Here is more from ALEC’s page:

“Our Model Legislation
Resolution Supporting the Principles of No Child Left Behind”

Apparently NCLB has been a smashing success for those who profit from filling up cellblocks. Pink said it best with, “No child gets left behind, we’re not dumb and we’re not blind; they’re all sitting in your cells, while you pave the road to hell…”

When you read more closely into parts of NCLB here is what is written into the fine print, and again, this is straight off of ALEC’s page:

“Focus on Achievement: NCLB not only promotes—and fully funds—innovative reforms in public education, but the law also holds schools accountable for their own success. For the first time in history, states must prove that they are yielding academic results before the federal government hands over the money. When achievement is not up to standard, the federal and state governments expect them to focus on how they can improve public education standards.”

Back the hell up. Schools that are doing poorly get cut off from federal aid.

Smith and Wesson Night Guard Pistols

Excerpt From Post by ~WTS~ on Info Barrel

http://www.smith-wesson.com
Smith & Wesson's new Night Guard series revolvers deliver confidence in every situation. Boasting lightweight scandium alloy frames in various sizes and calibers with front night sights and extreme duty rear sights, these reliable revolvers are the perfect protection - no matter where you find yourself.

The above is from a Smith & Wesson ad in Outdoor Life Magazine. No matter who you are, if you have every lived for long in any Western nation, then you know already that Smith & Wesson is one of the premier and preeminent manufacturers of personal protection firearms, and that is exactly what this product is, it's a pistol designed entirely for personal protection.

Shotguns and rifles have many uses, but pistols are, by and large, entirely instruments designed for protection. Protection is not something that a government can give to you, and the right to protection is not something that government can take away from you. It matters none at all should you be a convicted felon, or not; government can not give or take away your rights to own personal protection firearms except on paper, and in the minds of the masses. You have rights that were given to you by the creator, and government has no rights, but only abilities to suppress those rights.

The (Un)American Legislative Exchange Council

It is common knowledge that today in the United States millions of people are incarcerated in detention centers, county jails and prisons. What is not such common knowledge are the deep and insidious ties between those who write our laws and those who profit from them. Connections run to much deeper levels than the majority of Americans are aware of, far beyond what seems to have become acceptable by way of contributions and corruption within our government.

In a very brief nutshell, this is how the US prison system currently operates:

There are two major Corporations that run privately operated prison facilities and detention centers; GEO and CCA. There are other, smaller players but these are the two largest. Both trade on the NYSE and their value is determined by the number of beds they keep filled.

The GEO Group, Inc. was initially founded as a division of The Wackenhut Corporation in 1984 under the name of Wackenhut Corrections (WCC). They have acquired a few other companies along the way and today they operate facilities across the globe including Australia, Africa and the UK. They are the folks that run the ICE Detention Center in CO as well as GITMO.

From GEO’s webpage, “We design, construct, finance and manage jails, state and federal prisons, special-purpose institutions, and immigration and detention centers.”  Their profit? Well, according to their page, “Our revenue at year-end 2007 was $1.024 billion, and net income was $41.845 million.”

CCA founded the private corrections management industry more than 25 years ago, establishing industry standards for future-focused, forward-thinking correctional solutions...or so they say.
From CCA’s webpage, “We manage, design, build and own more than 66 correctional facilities and detention centers from coast to coast, in small cities, metropolitan areas and destinations in between.”

What few people realize is that GEO and CCA are both members of ALEC.

Monsanto Shifts ALL Liability to Farmers/Growers of GMO Crops

Farmers like genetically modified (GM) crops because they can plant them, spray them with herbicide and then there is very little maintenance until harvest. Farmers who plant Monsanto's GM crops probably don't realize what they bargain for when they sign the Monsanto Technology Stewardship Agreement contract.

One farmer reportedly 'went crazy' when he discovered the scope of the contract because it transfers ALL liability to the farmer or grower.

Here is the paragraph that defines Monsanto's limit of liability that shifts it to the farmer/grower:

"GROWER'S EXCLUSIVE LIMITED REMEDY: THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE GROWER AND THE LIMIT OF THE LIABILITY OF MONSANTO OR ANY SELLER FOR ANY AND ALL LOSSES, INJURY OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OR HANDLING OF SEED (INCLUDING CLAIMS BASED IN CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, PRODUCT LIABILITY, STRICT LIABILITY, TORT, OR OTHERWISE) SHALL BE THE PRICE PAID BY THE GROWER FOR THE QUANTITY OF THE SEED INVOLVED OR, AT THE ELECTION OF MONSANTO OR THE SEED SELLER, THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SEED. IN NO EVENT SHALL MONSANTO OR ANY SELLER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES."

This includes contamination of other farms. Growers are purchasing seed for Spring planting right now. Alfalfa, America's 4th largest crop, is a particular problem because it is a perennial plant and the seeds may lie dormant in the ground for 10-20 years, and WILL contaminate non-GM plants. Contaminated alfalfa cannot be recalled from the environment. The liability burden can follow the grower for decades. Farmers must be made aware of the danger of being sued before they plant GM crops (especially alfalfa because it is used for cattle feed and will affect dairy farmers).

Currently, Australian organic farmer Steve Marsh, who lost his organic certification due to contamination, is suing his GM crop-growing neighbor for the GM contamination.
Contamination of processing equipment is another risk.

There is evidence from India that GM crops are linked to livestock deaths. The Monsanto Technology Stewardship Agreement contract holds growers responsible for injuries, so this is another potential consequence for farmers planting Monsanto GM crops to consider.

The Monsanto Technology Stewardship Agreement has another clause that farmers will find disturbing: it appears that the growers agree that in order to sell their farm, the new purchaser must also sign a Monsanto Technology Stewardship Agreement. According to a top real estate broker, the contract places a covenant, condition or restriction (CCR) on the farmer's land:

Global Bio-Tech Crops Increase 10%

From Food Navigator - Global area planted with biotech crops increased by 10 percent last year to reach 148m hectares, making it the fastest adopted crop technology in the history of modern agriculture, according to a new analysis.

The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications (ISAAA), a non-profit organization which promotes the adoption of biotech crops, said in its new report that the United States still uses more genetically modified (GM) seeds than any other country, but Brazil had the largest increase for the second year running, with area planted to biotech crops rising 19 percent in 2010.

Commercial planting of GM crops began in 1996, with 1.7m hectares planted that year, and over 15 years of cultivation, the total area devoted to GM crops increased 87-fold, to reach 148m hectares in 2010. ISAAA said that adoption rates in developing nations exceeded those in industrialized countries last year and it expects the trend to continue.

“Developing countries grew 48 percent of global biotech crops in 2010 and will exceed industrialized nations in their plantings of biotech crops by 2015,” said ISAAA chairman and founder Clive James. “Clearly, the countries of Latin America and Asia will drive the most dramatic increases in global hectares planted to biotech crops during the remainder of the technology’s second decade of commercialization.”
Nineteen of the 29 countries that have adopted biotech crops are developing  nations, where area devoted to biotech crops grew at a rate of 17 percent over 2009, the report said, compared to five percent growth in industrialized countries.
For the first time, the top ten biotech-growing countries all planted more than one million hectares of GM crops in 2010. They were the United States, which planted 66.8m hectares, Brazil (25.4), Argentina (22.9), India (9.4), Canada (8.8), China (3.5), Paraguay (2.6), Pakistan (2.4), South Africa (2.2) and Uruguay (1.1), the report said.
The United States grows more varieties of GM crops than any other country, including maize, soybeans, cotton, canola, sugarbeet, alfalfa, papaya and squash.

Unarmed Greyhound Passengers "Frozen" During Bus Hijacking

Had there been several legally armed passengers on board I wonder how long it would have taken to put an end to this situation? Why should the passengers feel it necessary to ‘stand their frozen’ and afraid to move?

Instead of calling in TSA to perform invasive medical and rectal exams in the name of increasing security and public safety, why don’t we exercise a little common sense and train more citizens to defend themselves in public-attack situations?

WRAL.com - A gunman hijacked a Greyhound bus headed to Raleigh Thursday night, but all the passengers and driver managed to escape unharmed, authorities and witnesses said.

State troopers identified the suspect as Jose Flores, 32.

Vance County Sheriff Peter White said that a passenger from Arlington, Va., walked up to the front of bus no. 6516 along Interstate 85 South in Warren County. He asked the driver to be let off, then became irate and pulled out a gun, passengers said.

The man claimed he had a bomb and said, "If I don't get you with the gun, I will get you with the bag," White said. He ordered passengers to get off the bus, but most stood frozen.

…"He was just irate, (didn't) make no sense," said one passenger. "Nobody understood what was the purpose. He kept saying, 'I want to go to the courthouse, the nearest courthouse.'"
Passengers said they were nervous to continue on their trips with Greyhound.
"I still got a long way to go, and these people expect me to get on another bus. Would you get on another bus after you had a gun stuck to your head?"

A passenger, who was traveling to visit family in Florida, called for increased security measures on buses."Something's got to be done. I could have been dead tonight," he said. "Anybody could walk up on here on a Greyhound bus and have a gun on them and without checking nobody. It might slow things down, but this ain't right."
